この度、TAV GALLERYは2023年2月16日より科学技術館で開催される文化的エコシステムをコンセプトにしたアートフェア「EAST EAST_」に出展いたします。出展作家はオートモアイ、小林健太、トモトシ、馬嘉豪(マ・ジャホウ)の4名。新作、過去作から肖像を中心にセレクトいたしました。皆様のご来場を心よりお待ちしております。

2015年からモノクロでの作品の制作を開始、2018年からはカラーも多用し、匿名性の高い“存在”が画面に佇んでいるような 作風で知られる。極めて客観的でもありながら、とてもパーソナルな情景にも見えてくるその作風は、人間同士の関係性や、作品と鑑賞者の関係性など、必要な情報が削ぎ落とされているからこそ見えてくる景色と情景を提示。

In 2015, Auto Moai began creating works in monochrome, has been using a lot of color since 2018, and is known for a distinct style in which a highly anonymous “presence” seems to be standing on the canvas. The artist’s style, which is extremely objective but also appears to be a very personal scene, presents us with views and sceneries that can be found through the removal of elements, such as the relationship between people and the relationship between the painting and the viewer.

 

 

 

小林健太  Kenta Cobayashi  https://kentacobayashi.com/

1992年神奈川県生まれ。写真家、アーティストとして東京と湘南を拠点に活動。画像編集ソフトを用いて、写真や映像の一部を絵画のストローク(筆致)のように変容させた「#smudge」シリーズが代表作として知られている。近年では立体作品、パフォーマンス、CG、VR、NFTなどメディアを横断し表現領域を拡張している。

His works have been added to a collection at major institutions like Asian Art Museum, San Francisco. 1983山口県生まれ現在東京を拠点に活動。「都市空間や公共ルールに歪みを生むアクションを行い、人の動きが変容する瞬間を記録する」ことで制作をしている。アーティストとしてのこの態度は、デザイナーとして建築設計/都市計画に長年携わって辿り着いた、「建築や都市の完璧なデザインは起こりえない」という結論から育まれている(人間の、無限にある感情や振る舞いを余さず包摂し形態化することは不可能だと確信してしまったのだ)。都市はもともと不完全なものだと分かったときから、都市の使い方自体を解体し更新していくことに関心が移った。それ以来ぼくは新しい都市の使い方の開発を目論んでいる。

Born in 1983. Yamaguchi. Based in Tokyo. I create my works to “take actions that give birth to distortions in urban spaces and public rules, and record the behaviors that include reactions to the work”. Over the years, I have been involved in the design of buildings and cities. And I realized that since people’s feelings and behaviors are infinite, it is impossible to shape or to design them perfectly. Meanwhile, the feeling that is close to the desire in overcoming the impossibility of perfect design is the motivation for creating as an artist. In particular, the belief that urban design will inevitably lose its harmony is liberating how we connect ourselves with cities. As a concrete action, I work based on the intentions of a designer for city designs and rules, in the wrong way. For example, I would create artwork on places that are used in everyday lives, such as parks, shops, or trains, which cause the situation in which those places cannot be used in a conventionally-intended way. I trust the city because I live in it. However, like human beings, the city is not perfect. I hope to unravel the relationship between a city and its people to show how to interact in unexplored ways that may be possible.

 

 

 

馬嘉豪(マ・ジャホウ)/ Ma Jiahao   https://www.instagram.com/majiahao1213/?hl=ja

1996年生まれ。中華人民共和国西安出身。埼玉を拠点に活動。兵馬俑(へいばよう)を彷彿とさせる建築模型用の人体フィギアを圧縮させた彫刻作品を数多く発表。社会主義制度の問題を問う現代美術家の馬嘉豪(マ・ジャホウ)は異邦人として日本国のあり方を俯瞰的に読み解き、社会に生きる人々の共存の可能性を問い続ける。主な個展に「霾(PM2.5)」TAV GALLERY(東京)「Involution society」ARTDYNE GALLERY (東京)など。

Born in Xi’an, China. Based in Saitama. Ma is known as an artist who compresses scale figurines used for architectural models into sculptures, expressing the violence, conflicts and actualities behind the vast amount of population. His first solo exhibition, “霾(Bai)”, meaning dust (2018, TAV GALLERY), was an advanced project in which, with perfumer AIKIKAKU, Ma reproduced the scent of the air contaminant PM2.5, which was a social problem during the period of rapid economic growth. In the second solo exhibition “燎(Liao)”, meaning flame (2020, TAV GALLERY), he responded to the era of cultural cleansing, presenting realistic statues based on famous architectures and the Bodhi Tree, as well as a large-scale sculpture likening Rodin’s Gates of Hell to vulvae.
